Pacific Tool is a manufacturer based in Redmond, Washington. Manufacturing environments carry a particular kind of risk: the systems that keep production moving are often the least tolerant of change.
The challenge
Security improvements in a manufacturing setting cannot be allowed to interrupt production. The business needed to reduce its exposure to modern threats while keeping equipment and operations running to schedule.
What we did
We started with an assessment of the whole environment, then sequenced the work so that each change could be made without taking production offline. The strategy addressed the office network and the systems supporting the shop floor as one connected environment, because attackers treat it that way.
- Risk assessment covering both office and production systems
- Layered protection across endpoints, network and email
- Backup and recovery capability tested against realistic failure scenarios
- A prioritised roadmap so investment follows risk
The result
The manufacturer now operates on a secured environment with a clear view of where its remaining risk sits, and a plan for addressing it that fits the realities of a production schedule.
